Note from the Founder 

As a child growing up in the mountains of Kumamoto, Japan, preparing tea for someone was a loving gesture- an invitation to share a moment with another. Now, as an adult residing in Los Angeles, I was heartened to see trendy matcha lattes. Still, I had yet to be impressed with the quality or appreciation of the culture surrounding Japanese tea in the United States. 

I set out on a mission to create a source for premium Japanese teas and introduce them to the West in a manner in line with its rich history and Chado philosophy.

We are excited to introduce local, organic tea farmers in Japan who use generational techniques to produce some of the most beautiful teas in regions of prime terroir.

Hikari means "light" in Japanese, an essence we strive to imbue with every decision we make. We hope you will join us, tea bowl in hand, as we craft this love letter to the elegant, Zen ritual of Japanese tea.
