Q & A

Can you share a bit about your daily wellness routine?

I wake up at around 6am and make a big glass of water before I get on the mat, usually yoga or gentle stretching. I follow this with a short meditation or breathwork session.

For breakfast I like to have a berry smoothie during the summer. If not a smoothie I cook up some eggs and have them with spinach, avocado, and pickled fennel and a cup of matcha.

Throughout the day, I stay active, I wind down at around 7pm and spend my evenings reflecting and journaling or switching off technology with calming rituals like herbal teas or a restorative yoga session.

What are some rituals or habits that help you stay balanced and energized?

My rituals are rooted in simplicity and mindfulness. I make sure that I allow time for myself, proper deep time. I cook nourishing meals, I do light exercise, I make sure I keep in touch with my friends, and surround myself with people that make me feel inspired.

I’m focusing on consistency in my mornings. By constantly deciding to do these things that make me feel good over and over it becomes more and more enjoyable and instinctive. I’m currently trying a few other habits that I hope will also become daily rituals for me soon…

What first drew you to matcha, and how has it become part of your routine?

The ritualistic nature. The process of preparing it has become a small meditation of its own, a moment to slow down and connect with the present before stepping into the rhythm of the day.

What’s your favorite way to prepare HIKARI matcha? Do you have any unique recipes?

I adore the traditional preparation of matcha—whisking it in a beautiful handmade bowl with water just below boiling. I like to add a touch of homemade macadamia milk & a drizzle of honey from my garden. On warmer days, I serve this blend cold and mix it in with ice. The other day I also made matcha and macadamia cookies, I love the way these flavours talk to each other.

Matcha has a rich cultural history. What does it mean to you personally?

Its history speaks to mindfulness, artistry, and connection—all values I hold close in my own life. When preparing, I feel a sense of grounding and it inspires a balanced approach to the way I live.

How does HIKARI matcha fit into your lifestyle?

It’s simple and really good quality. Two of my favourite things that I look for to continuously add into my life. I love the way its ethically sourced and that it comes in a tin that keeps it well in my pantry. Most of all it gives me a calm and sustained energy throughout the day and it’s something I really look forward to every morning.

If you could enjoy a matcha moment anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A Japanese tea house, nestled within a garden. Immersed in nature and tradition, is what I feel makes matcha so special. It feels like the perfect way to honour its origins while fully immersing myself in the present moment.
